Ratification voting was conducted yesterday throughout the system. The tentative agreement has been ratified by a majority of the voting membership.

Sad news about Brother Heitkemper

Brothers and Sisters It is with extreme regrets to have to inform you that Brother C. J. Heitkemper passed away on 12/18/14. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. The family said they would inform us in the future of any services, probably in the Fall.

Helping Nate Sweet:   Yes, Nate has lost his right hand and about half of his forearm. He has severe burns and nerve damage in his left hand. The current left though his legs so they are also burnt and there is a large hole blown out behind his right knee. He has had the amputation surgery and had more to follow. He will need skin graphs and in all of those places as well.
American Airlines to add 250 jobs at O'Hare Airport

CHICAGO (WLS) -- American Airlines is hiring at O'Hare International Airport as part of a major initiative for 2015. In a new plan to change some of American's flight operations this spring, the carrier is adding another 250 jobs at the Chicago airport. At the end of March, American will begin grouping flights in banks of ten throughout the day.

December 19, 2014 -- We met for Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) and Related negotiations on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, for what was originally scheduled as a two-day session that was reduced down to one. The Company requested the shortened session to focus on opening up articles not yet negotiated, particularly Article 2: Scope. The Company informed us prior to the session that they were not prepared to present a proposal on Scope, but rather would focus on providing another presentation on the EPIC Program, which our Committee requested following the last inadequate presentation on the issue.

Louisville, KY --On December 18, after significant debate and compromise, Louisville became the first city in the South to raise its minimum wage. The Louisville Metro Council passed the ordinance 16-9, raising the minimum wage in Jefferson County to $9/hour. The vote was along party lines, with all Democrats voting in favor of the increase and Republicans voting against.

December 18, 2014 -- We met with the Company in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, for a one-day negotiation session to continue our negotiations for the Facilities Maintenance Technicians (FMT). The Company started by presenting counter offers for Article 2: Scope, Article 4: Classifications, Article 5: Hours of Service, Article 8: Field Service, and Article 10: Filling of Vacancies. Again, like in our last session, the Company’s Article 2 counter omitted our language that would offer overtime to FMTs prior to using vendors to perform work the FMT’s normally perform outside their normal work hours and weekend.
