April 25, 2015 Earlier this week we asked IBEW 21 members to attend meetings where local governments were considering passing a resolution that would be harmful to all workers in Illinois. We would like to start by saying thank-you. You made a difference. In every community where IBEW Local 21 members made their voices heard the harmful resolutions were not adopted. The struggle for working families is not over. Next week (4/27-5/1) more communities are considering the Governor's Turnaround Agenda.

Dramatic cuts in federal employee and retiree compensation could come about through FY 2016 budget bills passed by the House and Senate late last month. While the details of the House and Senate bills differ, both call for lower compensation for federal workers and retirees, dramatic cuts to agency spending and huge reductions in the federal workforce.

This Ruan terminal is a tank haul trucking facility that transports milk from the Fair Oaks Dairy in northern Indiana.

Councilmembers Navarro, Reimer, and Katz of the Montgomery County Government Operations Committee voted to approve the collective bargaining agreement and DROP retirement plan for uniformed officers and deputy sheriffs on Thursday, April 23. Around 80 members attended the hearing to show their support for the agreement.

Hundreds of current members and retirees showed up at GE P&W in Schenectady and GE GRC in Niskayuna for a rally in a show of unity to draw attention to the upcoming contract negotiations. The rallies, which were joined by every represented GE location in the country, coincided with the GE Shareholders meeting in Oklahoma that same day. We would like to thank all those who came out in a show of solidarity.

Low-wage federal contract workers on strike storm Capitol Hill from the Up to a thousand low-wage contract workers in Washington, D.C. took part in a one-day strike Wednesday for living wages and a union. Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Contract Ratified

By a 2-1 margin Local 776 members working at the Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (formerly the York County Nursing Home) ratified a new four-year collective bargaining agreement. Business Agent Dave Vrona held three separate ratification meetings, which allowed all of the members an opportunity to review the changes in the tentative agreement prior to voting on the agreement.
