President Grant Retires
05/03/16 - OPWU
Our President Terry Grant retired May 1st after over 40 years of service to the APWU. For 30 years as President of the Ohio Postal Workers Union he was also the leader of the Tri State Organization (Oh. In. and Ky.). He was most proud of the Tri State Organization and the Tri State Stewards School. The Tri State Organization is a respected force within the APWU, especially at the National Conventions. The Stewards School is the finest training you can find in the country. Terry has genuinely made these two organizations what they are today through his consistent hard work over the years. So it was no surprise when over 110 people attended his retirement dinner to honor him for his years of service. For over two hours National, State, Local, and retiree members came to say a few words and share some of their memories and experiences about Brother Grant. They could not say enough good about him and many brought him gifts and mementos or awards. The OPWU Executive Board by proclamation made him President Emeritus of the OPWU. It was a memorable evening for Terry, his family and all of us. Truly people like him don't come around very often. To Brother Grant, in closing, try not to worry about the us rookies that will now "carry the ball", thank you and have a long and happy retirement.
