This Saturday, May 13, letter carriers will pick up and deliver your mail, just like they do every week. But what makes this particular Saturday so special is that your local carrier will also collect nonperishable goods for food banks donated by people like you across the country.
Because the nation’s 175,000 letter carriers regularly visit every address in the country, they see the struggles in the communities they serve, and they believe it’s important to do what they can to help.

Participating in the food drive couldn’t be easier. Before your regular mail service on Saturday, May 13, all you need to do is leave bags of nonperishable food items near your mailbox. Letter carriers will pick up the bags and — with the help of retired postal employees and countless volunteers — deliver them to local food agencies.
Your donation matters right now, because food bank shelves that filled up over the winter from holiday generosity are often bare by late spring. And food banks are particularly stretched in the summer months serving the millions of children who rely on meal programs that are suspended when school is out.
