ATTENTION DISTRICT 111 AND 201 EMPLOYEES Teamsters Local 179 met for several hours with District management in contract negotiations August 24.   It has become patently clear that the Districts have no intention of reaching any kind of agreement for the bus drivers, let alone a fair agreement.

We will have a flat bed truck with a rotor of some kind and our Union Banner to march behind. We are inviting all members to march in the parade and show the community who we are and what we do.

The Federal Employees’ Group Life Insurance Program, FEGLI, is having an Open Season from September 1, 2016 through September 30, 2016. This is the first FEGLI Open Season since 2004. During the month of September 2016, if you are a Federal employee eligible for FEGLI, you can elect any coverage that FEGLI offers, including Option C coverage on the lives of your eligible family members.

The NLRB’s investigation into this blatant, illegal union busting is ongoing; however, the company retaliated by firing or suspending every worker that testified to the government about the company’s illegal behavior.

There will be a two part Steward training in Missoula at the Hilton Garden Inn August 25th and 26th, 2016.  Part 1 sessions will be held August 25th at either 10am to 1pm or 7pm to 10pm. Part 2 sessions will be held August 26th at either 10am to 1pm or 7pm to 10pm. You need to attend only 1 session each day, but you must attend Part 1 and Part 2 to complete the training.

Dozens of contracted cleaners at the Government Accountability Office have voted to authorize a strike to protest their employer’s proposal to stop paying into the workers’ pension fund. Their union says the decision by Creative Management Technologies (CMT) would undermine retirement security for cleaners, many of whom have worked at the GAO for decades.
