Transportation
- You can take Amtrak, PATH, NJ Transit, or LIRR to New York Penn Station and either walk to the assembly area or use the 7th Avenue exit to go to the yellow cab queue.
- You can also take Metro North, LIRR, or the Subway to Grand Central Terminal. Keep in mind that Grand Central is a sprawling station and each transit entity is in a different section of the terminal, which can make you believe you are closer than you really are.
- A bus to NY/NJ Port Authority is convenient as well, just a short walk from the assembly location.
- Be aware: during a 5th Avenue parade, there will be street closures and normal car and foot traffic may be blocked by NYPD.
- If using the Subway, always check mta.info in advance. Track work can pop up at any time, and they sometimes shut down lines for 72-hour outages.
What to Bring
- Union flags, banners, and signs – let’s be visible and united! We have a Local 56 banner from prior rallies, but it is not about us, just that we have it to share.
- Comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing
- Water to stay hydrated
Parade Protocol
- Stay together as a group in Sector I
- Follow instructions from marshals and union officers. Bring friends and family! We would like to give a courtesy head count as we approach the date.
- Be respectful to the public and media - only designated spokespeople will provide official statements. Be mindful, these events attract all kinds of fringe groups. We are here to support the labor movement and if these groups appear, so be it.

A Proud Tradition
This is the oldest Labor Day celebration in the country, hosted by the group that organized the first parade. The BRS is proud to march in solidarity and to be affiliated with the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO.
