Union Plus College Program 

Central State University 

Central State University (CSU), recently announced a reduction in tuition rates starting with the Spring 2024 semester. This change will make CSU more affordable for union students and make it easier for students to calculate their out-of-pocket expenses. Union students enrolled in the CSU Global Union Partnership program will be charged the following new rates: $250/credit hour for both in-state and out-of-state students. The prior tuition rate was $295/credit hour, in-state (Ohio) and $400/credit hour, out-of-state. The program will continue to offer books at no cost and a sole $150 per semester processing fee. 

Pell Grant-eligible students will see no change in the program and their out-of-pocket cost will remain only the $150 per semester processing fee. Tuition, other fees, and books (up to 18 hours per semester) will be free through a combination of the Pell Grant and a Central State Global Grant. Non-Pell Grant-eligible students will have an out-of-pocket payment based on their credit load. This new lower tuition rate will replace the merit-based institutional aid (the GPA-based scholarships) that CSU offered to help lower the out-of-pocket expenses for non-Pell Grant-eligible union students. With the implementation of these changes, current non-Pell Grant-eligible students will not see any increase in out-of-pocket expenses and for some it will mean a reduction in expenses.
